It was made by Society member Eric Griswold at Victorville, California in August of 1974. 408 started life as Union Pacific 1366, and at the time worked with her sister F-M ex-AC&Y 505.

The excerpt is approximately 60 seconds long, 700K in size and saved in the MP3 format. It can be played by a number of "helper" applications including Apple's Quicktime, the Windows Media Player, and Real Audio's Jukebox.
