Livery

Postby Malcolmcelyn » Sun Mar 02, 2014 9:14 am

Just browsing through some old N&W photos and came across this.

Could someone clarify the color scheme for me? I know it's a black and white photo!
Is it blue with yellow script? If so, what color blue? When was it used?
Thanks.

Malcolm,
A few years after the AC&Y was merged into the N&W System in 1964, three Fairbanks-Morse H20-44 road-switchers, originally working for the nearby P&WV (Pittsburg and West Virginia), were reassigned (sold) to the AC&Y. I don't have the dates handy, but would say they arrived in Akron between 1967-69. The AC&Y's business was very good at the time and they simply needed the additional road power. The units were repainted in a solid dark blue scheme with simple yellow lettering and wore numbers 506, 507 and 508. A photo of 508 is posted below. I believe they remained in service about 10-12 years before being retired.

Thanks Luke. Past my time-frame, so I won't be modeling it, but nice to know. Love your color photo too. :D
