NW/NS 6-Axle Units on ACY?

Postby RRFoose » Wed Dec 30, 2015 12:22 pm

Did N&W's ex-IT SD39s ever make an appearance on ACY trackage? I've seen photos of them in Brewster, but that's about as close as I know that they got.

Did NW or NS regularly station any 6-axle units of any make on the ACY between 1982-90? I have never seen a photo of 6-axle units anywhere on the ACY system until W&LE with their SD40s. I suppose if they did wonder on the ex-ACY rails, it was only briefly. Thanks for the help!

I finally came across a photo of a 6-axle NW unit - it's really a photo of some cabooses in Brittain yard, but in the background you can see 6 axles and the number 6143 - research says it was an SD40-2. So, although rare, NW did let 6 axle units wonder onto the ACY. Now, to find an elusive photo of an SD39 there...
