Last remaining AC&Y boxcar in original paint(?)

Postby mattwoods » Thu May 24, 2012 12:32 am

I took this picture at the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek. I don't know for sure, but it may be one of the only freight cars still in original AC&Y paint. It is actually in surprisingly good shape. Does anyone know the history of this car and where Jacobson got the car?

I don't think this is the original paint scheme . The big sliding door on the ACY's plug doors didn't have any of the lettering on it. Can you e-mail me a copy of this picture. My e-mail is - wadegriffi@aol.net . Where is the Steam Roundhouse?
Looks like it might be a good place to visit.

Wade,
Checkout:

This the website of Jerry Jacobson's incredible train empire!
As to the box car, I'm not certain, but I believe that could be a faux paint job. :?:

The car is former C&O. I remember it sitting at the house track at Sugarcreek in 2001 prior to repainting. Jerry wanted it painted into AC&Y. The number series is wrong for the insulated boxcars the ACY had anyway. The lettering is just a decal job. I worked for the OC from 2001-2003, we used that car and other in photo freights with the steam engines.

Chris thanks for the clarification. I guess I was easily fooled and showed my ignorance of the AC&Y's numbering sequences. I thought I might be on to something unusual.
