3M-Copley 8K Acid Tankcars

I enjoy modeling prototype freight cars which actually ran on the AC&Y in the steam-diesel transition era. A new HO-scale model just caught my eye... thought I'd share my findings! Posted on the Society website is the story I wrote on the most interesting Minnesota Mining (3M) plant at Copley, ...

Re: Timetable train numbers

Jud8789,
I also spent many hours at Fairlawn. Curious if you might have photographs of the area, particularly what was once Fairlawn Supply and Carter Jones Lumber? REL

Re: Timetable train numbers

Jud8789, AC&Y Timetable No. 28 (effective September 12, 1965) was likely still in effect circa 1968. AC&Y operated two daily scheduled road trains in each direction (between Brittain and Delphos). The eastbound symbols were Trains 96 and 94. The westbound Trains were 91 and 97. There was al...

Re: AC&Y-A&BB Book Update III

Tim, I understand Morning Sun books are printed in Korea. The logistics of shipping completed books by steam ship (sea container) no doubt would be problematic. Morning Sun also has an extensive nationwide dealer network which would require additional time to position stock. At this point, no decis...

Re: AC&Y-A&BB Book Update III,

Dan, The Society has negociated dealer privilges with Morning Sun and will have a limited number of the new AC&Y-A&BB book for sale dealer direct. The design (layout) phase has been quite extensive, more than I realized. Our book will include features not seen in other Morning Sun books. Th...

WANTED - F-M H20-44 Drawings / Plans

We have a qualified manufacturer interested in producing the F-M H20-44 diesel in HO scale and are looking for detailed plans or erection drawings. The early Lowey-stylized car body version would be modeled. AC&Y's first four heavy-duty road switchers (Nos 500-503) were of this design. The 2000...

Maybe the last active AC&Y equipment?

Thought I'd post an interesting shot posted on Facebook by Roger Durfee. Here is his caption. "Over the years I have shot just about anything connected with the railroad- case in point being this former AC&Y wheelbarrow in Akron, Ohio not long after the W&LE took this line over. It wou...

Re: AC&Y boxcar

Chris,
The last I heard, the car (Pullman-Standard 50' combo door PS-1) needed at least one new roof panel. Is that still true? Bob

Re: Back Issues

The Society still has a sizable inventory of printed color News magazine issues (Vol. XIV thru Vol. XVII) which we'll again offer for sale again this Fall - Winter, 2014. There are only a handful of B&W printed issues (Vol. I thru Vol. XIII) which we'll also offer for sale. There is still a siz...
