Re: Building Sunshine Model kits

After writing the above, I discovered something that should explain what's happening. I suspect you obtained your kit second-hand from a collector who has had it for a long time. Over time, Martin Lofton of Sunshine Models produced a number of Mather kits appropriate for AC&Y. I think your kit i...

Re: Building Sunshine Model kits

Hello --- Sunshine kits tend to use a generic set of instructions, so a boxcar kit will not necessarily show photos or diagrams of the specific kit in question. For house cars, the process is pretty standard: build the box, and then add the details. In some cases, it is worthwhile to build some part...

Re: New products:

Just got a copy of the Walthers Flyer. They have a featured deal on the new Kadee #805 PS-1 boxcars in July: $30.98 for a car that normally retails for $34.95.

Modeling A&BB ex-PRR cabooses in HO

Walthers has announced that they will re-release the PRR N6b cabin car this July. This car is correct for A&BB cabooses 1 and 2, which served the A&BB from 1947 through the 1950's. The model that best represents the A&BB cars will be Waltherrs catalog no. 920-103401, PRR number 982143, i...

Re: Onward to Youngstown??

When was Berlin reservoir formed? I'm guessing this route following present-day rt. 224 was surveyed at a time when the reservoir wasn't there. Crossing that area would have required significant fills and/or bridging after the water was impounded.

Re: Introduction

Somebody may want to correct me on this, but I think NKP dieselized their lines into Delphos around 1953. During steam years they used the AC&Y's wye to turn the H-5 and H-6 2-8-2's that came in from Frankfort, Indiana, but they used the small NKP Delphos turntable to turn the smaller class G-8 ...

Barberton Coaling Facility

For anybody interested in modeling A&BB's compact little Barberton engine terminal in steam days (up to about 1954), the April Model Railroader has a very nice article on building and upgrading the Walthers plastic Fairbanks Morse coaling tower. This structure is almost a dead ringer for the Bar...

Re: Non Revenue Roster

This is a worthy project. there has been talk of an HO kit eventually being produced, but there is no time frame specified, so if you want one, you'll probably have to build it yourself. These cabooses were covered in an article I wrote for the Fall, 1999 AC&YHS News (Vol. VI, No. 3). The cars w...
