The Akron, Canton and Youngstown Railroad Historical Society was organized in 1992 by a dedicated group of AC&Y enthusiasts. Our interests and goals are to document, preserve and share the AC&Y's history including predecessor and affiliated lines in Northern Ohio.
Our membership is diverse...some are former employees, others from communities served by the road. Still others didn't have a chance to see the AC&Y, but wish they had! All share the same enthusiasm for historic preservation and interpretation of "Ohio's Road of Service."
Whether your interests are classic photos, historic maps and documents, modeling, restoration of rail equipment, or you simply enjoy reading or hearing about the AC&Y, we invite you to join us!

Welcome to the customized Social Network of The Akron, Canton and Youngstown Railroad Historical Society.
We are launching a community site to bring together AC&Y fans from around the world. The idea is to build knowledge and fellowship by creating an online destination where like-minded people want to hang out.It is believed that one of the most useful aspects of social networking sites is education.
A social network service focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. When used properly, social networks can be a great way to enhance knowledge. Everyone talks about how knowledge is the important asset. But it has to be applied to be useful. Model Railroader magazine carries an article feature called INFORMATION DESK by senior editor Jim Hediger, it primarily focuses on prototype railroading. We are very pleased to have assisted on the July 2011 issue's IFORMATION DESK column. The July 2011 feature is about site arrangements and tracks needed to serve a power plant. The AC&YHS supplied technical information and an aerial photo of the Woodcock Station at Bluffton Ohio, which was served by the AC&Y. This is an excellent example of why the AC&YHS exists and maintains an Archive. We would like to thank Fred Steiner, friend of the AC&YHS, who sent our society the photo used in the article. We also thank Society member Bryan K. Porter, who marked up exactly what everything was in the photo. And a special thanks to Society Trustee, AC&YHS News Associate Editor, and Archive Chairman Robert Lucas, for his continued dedication, research and the correspondence with Jim Hediger and Tony Koester about the Bluffton Power Plant.
